Over the years our box posies have changed with the seasons, reflecting what was flowering, fading and being gathered throughout the year.
But over time we realised we were repeatedly drawn back to the same plants and seed heads. The ones that feel most familiar. The ones that appear in our walks, our work and the landscape around us.
So we decided to make one permanent. A small gathering of dried flowers and foliage chosen as much for their beauty and practicality as for the stories and associations they carry.
Alder grows along riversides and in damp places throughout Britain. Its little cones are chosen because they hold fragrance wonderfully, allowing our signature scent to linger long after a parcel has been opened.
Heather, a plant long associated with protection and admiration, and one that repeatedly finds its way into our work.
Bracken, carpeting woodland floors and mountain slopes, bringing with it a sense of enchantment and a connection to the familiar landscapes around us.
Poppy heads, long associated with dreams, sleep and the world of the imagination.
Honesty, with its delicate silvery moons that catch the light and remind us that beauty often remains long after a season has passed.
Sweet peas, associated with gratitude, friendship and pleasure, bringing softness, fragrance and a touch of old-fashioned sentimentality.
Finally, each posy is tied with a burgundy velvet ribbon, a colour that has become part of Flower & Fable itself.
