Primrose floriography - for kindness
All our sterling silver pendants are cast from real flowers, measure 26x20mm & include a split ring attachment for adding to a necklace. Each piece also includes a recycled card detailing its botanical folklore & floriography.
We believe that jewellery should be a gift, whether for yourself or for someone else, so it should be beautifully packaged. Every order comes gift wrapped with our signature posy, which changes with the seasons (UK only). We use recycled silk ribbon & include a gift card for your message, which we can print for you or leave blank for you to hand write.
Floriography, also known as the language of flowers, is the practice of attributing meanings & symbolism to flowers & has been recorded in traditional cultures around the world for thousands of years.
Primrose, from the Latin "prima rosa", meaning first rose or flower, is a favourite for its early Spring blossoms. The five petals of the flower represent birth, initiation, consummation, repose & death, whilst a rare primrose with 6 petals is said to bring luck in love & marriage. Primroses have a long association with fairies & folklore. It is said that if you touched a fairy rock with the right number of primroses in a posy you will be shown the way to fairyland & posies would be left on doorsteps so that fairies would bless the house & the people in it. On May Day, primroses were hung on cows’ tails & left on the doorstep to deter witches.
